From Pastas to Proofreads: Cookbook Editing with Meredith Dees and Michelle C. Meade

Join Editors Toronto on Monday, November 30, at 7:00 PM EST via Zoom for our branch business meeting, followed by From Pastas to Proofreads: Cookbook Editing with Meredith Dees and Michelle C. Meade.

Our relationship to food is complex. Food has the power to transport us emotionally, to soothe or excite us, and to bring us together. A good cookbook provides us with recipes for a variety of dishes, but a great cookbook introduces us to new cultures, innovative tools, and healthier lifestyles. So, what is an editor’s role in putting a cookbook together? From recipe development and testing to layout and design, our November program will dive into this unique form of illustrated non-fiction editing.

This will be a moderated panel with Meredith Dees, senior editor at Robert Rose, and Michelle C. Meade, former editorial director of the Food and Lifestyle program at Figure 1 Publishing, followed by a Q&A. Moderated by Jessica de Bruyn, this discussion will cover the forms and stages of cookbook editing from acquisitions to the proofread and will delve into our guests’ own journeys to working in cookbooks.

  1. Hi,

I’m interested in this Zoom event but my EC branch is not Toronto. Is it open to other branches? What is the promo code?

    Thanks,

    Vicki Gregory
