BoldFace could not exist without the help of many talented and generous editors who enrich the Editors Toronto community by pouring their expertise, insights, and time into blog posts. As the outgoing editor-in-chief, I extend my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to everyone who wrote for BoldFace in the past season. In this post, we’re shining the spotlight on you!
I also thank my fellow Editors Toronto chairs, Amanda Clarke, Ann Nam-Tran Le, and Jona Rhica Mejico, who will be returning to the executive committee next season, for their contributions to the blog.

Adrineh Der-Boghossian (she/her) is a queer-identified editor and project manager who currently works in-house at Page Two. She has held communications roles in the non-profit sector, taught English at an American university abroad, translated news articles for online media, conducted research on factors affecting media trust, and more. She has many interests, but the core of what she does is communicate: she helps individuals and organizations distill their thoughts and ideas into clear, concise language for their target audiences. Jennifer D. Foster is a Toronto-based freelance editor, writer, and mentor, who works on everything from fiction, non-fiction and children’s/YA books to trade and consumer magazines, curatorial content, web copy, marketing and PR material, and book reviews.
Professional motto: Be kind and do no harm—in all aspects of life.
Dream editing project: I’d love to delve into the world of screenwriting and also learn to edit scripts for film and television, commercials, and even video games. And travelling back in time to be able to work with the incomparable Dorothy Parker, Sylvia Plath, and E.B. White would be dauntingly fantastic!

Małgosia Halliop is a writer and editor with a focus on environmental and sustainability content for non-profits and purpose-driven businesses. Siobhan McMenemy is senior editor at WLU Press and co-director of the Amplify Podcast Network. She has worked in scholarly publishing for 24 years, during which she has built book lists and edited scholarship in the social sciences and humanities. She is committed to publishing scholarship by and about members of historically under-represented communities. Her editorial work includes cross- and interdisciplinary research, hybrid genres, and collaborative, born-digital scholarship. Through her work on new forms of scholarly publishing, she hopes to contribute to the transformation of peer review practices in aid of equity, inclusion, accessibility, and collaboration.

Berna Ozunal is a Toronto-based Certified Professional Editor and an editing instructor at George Brown College Continuing Education. She has been editing for over 20 years and absolutely loves it. She works with clients in Ottawa and Toronto and will officially launch a new editorial business in the coming months. Berna also volunteers on the Editors Canada standards committee and a publications subcommittee.

Dream editing project: Any campaign, project, or initiative related to the climate crisis. In fact, I will be offering free editorial services on select projects when I launch my business, and I look forward to providing details at that time.

Vilma Indra Vītols is an opera singer and editor who recently completed the Editorial Skills Program at George Brown College and is looking forward to applying those skills in a variety of niches, including plain language editing. Dream editing project: A friend of mine is writing a blog about a specific challenge in her life. I think it would make a terrific book, and I’d love to help shape and edit it. Another dream is to try my hand at editing fiction.

Michelle Waitzman is a non-fiction author, plain language trainer, and writer and copy editor for businesses, associations and specialty publishers. She specializes in making complex topics (like law, finance, immigration, computer science, and taxes) clear and easy to understand. She has been self-employed since 2014 and works from home with her two canine assistants.
USP: Your message is important. Make sure your readers understand it!
Dream editing project: I’m currently writing a new non-fiction book called Be as Happy as Your Dog, so I guess my dream editing project right now is to reach the self-editing stage with my manuscript!
