What it means to be an editor is different for each person in this profession. For some, editing is a set of skills to be mastered and executed to near perfection. For others, it is a creative collaboration that takes incredible imagination and a great ability to solve problems. One of the most difficult things about starting and building a career as an editor is getting to know yourself and where you best fit within this diverse community.
On Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 pm, Editors Toronto programs co-chair Jessica de Bruyn and award-winning editor and published author Margo LaPierre will have an intimate and in-depth chat on what it means to be an editor, how LaPierre got started, and how she balances her editing and writing work.
Participants will have the chance to join the conversation on the editing profession. This program is a collaboration between the Toronto and Ottawa-Gatineau branches of Editors Canada.

Margo LaPierre (www.margolapierreeditor.com) is a poet and editor, and recipient of the Editors Canada 2019 Claudette Upton Scholarship. Her debut collection, Washing Off the Raccoon Eyes, was published by Guernica Editions in 2017. She is the newsletter editor of Arc Poetry Magazine, membership chair of the Editors Canada Ottawa-Gatineau branch, member of poetry collective VII, and a poetry selector for Bywords Magazine. Her work has been published in filling Station Magazine, CAROUSEL, Train : a poetry journal, and others.
